Born to a second generation American-Mexican mother, and a first generation Mexican father, Sal Rodriguez came into this world (Guillermo Salvador Rodriguez) on August 17 th, in the back seat of a car, off of the 101 freeway, in Los Angeles. "That explains why I'm always trying to get women into my backseat - to get back to my roots."
On the mean streets of Pacoima, California, Sal's cultural identity crisis unfolded. Being the only monolingual American-Mexican in the neighborhood positioned Sal between two cultures. "Growing up, I had one white friend, his name was Cory. |

On one occasion, I went to his house for dinner, and his mother said to me, "I knew you were coming over tonight Sal, so I made enchiladas just for you!" I laugh about that to this day because she was surely mistaken - we had frozen Swanson's TV dinners and fried chicken in my house more than we ever had any Mexican food. If my mom ever made Mexican food it was an event. Then again, if my mom made any food it was an event."
After several years of cracking up clients and co-workers as a professional fitness trainer in Studio City, Sal decided to try his hand at stand-up comedy. Good move for Sal! He's performed at the Ice House, the Improv, and the Laugh Factory. He's been featured on Sprint PCS's "Laff Trakks," streaming his comedy to thousands of subscribers. He's also an event host/emcee and published writer.
In his spare time, Sal enjoys cycling, distance running (having completed nine marathons), weight lifting, watching DVDs, napping (with his two cats named This & That), and reading books. Of particular interest to Sal are philosophical, spiritual, and religious books. Sal considers himself a Catholic with Buddhist meditations and Hindu mantras.
His dream is to travel the world on someone else's dime.
